Mauricio Lara has vowed to stop Josh Warrington for a second time when they meet this Saturday at Headingley Stadium live on DAZN.
Lara caused one of the year’s biggest upsets back in February when he went from an unknown fighter to the business end of the featherweight division in the space of nine tough rounds.
A huge underdog, Lara made a mockery of pre-fight predictions as he battered Lara for the majority of their contest before stopping the former world champion in the ninth session.
Several reasons have been offered for Warrington’s uncharacteristic showing but Lara insists that he’ll prove the first fight was no fluke and that he’ll repeat the result for once again.
“It really hurt me that a great champion like him [Warrington] didn’t give me the credit for my performance but that’s in the past now,” said Lara when speaking at the fight’s final press conference.
“I can’t wait for Saturday to come along now and I’m going to show him, in his words, that we’re definitely not on the same level – I’ll have my hand raised on Saturday night.
“I’ve prepared for a knockout, but I’ve also prepared for the twelve rounds, I can assure you it won’t go the distance.”
