Liverpool defeated Atletico Madrid 2-0 on Matchday 4 of the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, winning Group B in the process.

The Reds were comfortable throughout the encounter at Anfield, with Diogo Jota and Sadio Mané scoring in the first half to put the match out of reach early.

Jota found the target in the 13th minute, getting on the end of a perfectly executed cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold. The right-back received the ball deep in the Atletico half and whipped in a first-time cross from the right flank that bounced at the top of the six-yard box before meeting Jota's head near the back post.

Liverpool doubled the lead just eight minutes after Jota's opener, and it was Alexander-Arnold again playing the role of provider — albeit unintentionally. After collecting a pass from Jordan Henderson, Alexander-Arnold struck a low shot from 20 yards out that skipped along the turf towards goal. The ball was redirected into the net by a charging Mané before it could roll harmlessly into the awaiting arms of Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak, putting the Reds firmly in charge with a two-goal cushion.

As if trying to overcome the deficit against a flying Liverpool side wasn't challenging enough, the Rojiblancos would see their task become even harder when defender Felipe was shown a red card in the 36th minute. The Brazilian was ejected for a tackle from behind on Mané, although the referee initially appeared ready to issue a yellow card only to change his mind after Felipe repeatedly refused to acknowledge the official calling him over.

Down to 10 men for nearly an hour, Atletico found it tough to create chances. Even so, the visitors thought they had pulled a goal back in the 57th minute when a Luis Suarez shot was deflected into the Liverpool net by Joel Matip. However, a VAR check determined that José María Giménez, who had headed the ball towards Suarez, was offside in the build-up.

The final half hour of play consisted mostly of Liverpool holding onto the ball while creating the odd chance, as the match felt over long before the final whistle.

That win followed on from his brutal fourth-round stoppage of undefeated Frenchman Daniel Blenda Dos Santos in May and the 28-year-old contender returns to the famous arena next month to take on his toughest challenge yet in the professional ranks. 

Russia’s Vlasov (45-4, 26 KOs) dropped a controversial twelve-round majority decision to the USA’s Joe Smith in a challenge for the vacant WBO title earlier this year and he is determined to bounce back by becoming the first man to defeat Buatsi.  

Also on the card, undefeated New Malden super-middleweight talent Lerrone Richards (15-0, 3 KOs) looks to build on his impressive EBU European title win against Giovanni De Carolis in May when he takes on unbeaten IBO 168lbs champ Carlos Gongora (20-0, 15 KOs).

Gongora created history by becoming Ecuador’s first ever world titleholder of any description when he scored a spectacular twelfth-round knockout win over Kazakhstan’s Ali Akhmedov last December before stopping Christopher Pearson in his maiden defence of the title on the Andrade vs. Williams undercard. 

‘Little Lever’s Meat Cleaver’ Jack Cullen (20-2-1, 9 KOs) returns to the scene of his 'Fight of the Year' contender with Felix Cash back in 2019 as he clashes with Germany’s Emre Cukur (17-1, 3 KOs) for the vacant EBU European super-middleweight crown following his win over Avni Yildirim in July.

The first full week of November brings about another slate of NFL games, with several key matchups to look forward to.

As usual, things get started with "Thursday Night Football." This week's TNF features the New York Jets (2-5) visiting the Indianapolis Colts (3-5) in a matchup of AFC teams eager to put together a run.

He now gets the chance to become a two-weight world champion having ripped the IBF super featherweight title from Tevin Farmer in Miami in January 2020.

The second half of the 2021-22 UEFA Europa League group stage kicks off Thursday with leading teams looking to create more separation at the top of their respective groups while the chasing sides aim to keep pace.

One club that is nearly assured of a spot in the knockouts is West Ham United, after collecting three wins from the first three matches in Group H. The Hammers travel to Genk this week with the ability to cement their participation in the next round.

Elsewhere, things are much tighter in Group C, where three points separates first place from fouth. Legia Warsaw currently leads the group with six points, but hosts Napoli this week in the reverse fixture from Matchday 3, when the Polish side was drubbed 3-0.

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez last year set out his desire to unify the major championship belts at super-middleweight in order to further cement his status as an all-time Mexican boxing great, as well as perhaps one of the best of all-time, period.

And he's almost there. All that stands in the way of his achievement is America's unbeaten Caleb Plant.

Alvarez is the current holder of the WBA (Super), WBC and WBO super-middleweight (weight limit: 168lbs) world championships. He is also The Ring Magazine's super-middle champ, which is held in high regard despite not being an 'official' world title due to its heavy emphasis on being a 'lineal' title (i.e. "the champion is the fighter who beat the previous champion", a concept that lost its way as titles split across multiple major sanctioning bodies).

Of the four main bodies at present, the only belt Canelo does not own is the IBF super-middleweight title, currently owned by — yep, you guessed it — Plant.

Victory for the Mexican will complete his set. However, this fight is 'winner takes all'. Though Canelo is the heavy favourite, he will lose all of his belts to Plant if the American pulls off the upset. That would make Plant the undisputed super-middleweight champion of the world.

<h2>How tough is it to become an undisputed champion?</h2>

Very tough. It's possible: for instance Scotland's Josh Taylor unified the entire super-lightweight division by defeating Jose Ramirez earlier this year in a similar 'winner take all' scenario. However, you only need to look at the politics surrounding the proposed Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua bout to decide an undisputed heavyweight champion, a bout which ultimately fell through, to see how much effort (and luck) is required to get such a plan over the line.

Once upon a time, there was only one recognised world champion per division. Then, this was disputed by two sanctioning bodies. Then, three. Now, four. And there are other bodies such as the IBO who would like to get their titles elevated to equal footing as well, which would make things even more confusing for fans.

<h2>How has Canelo collected this many belts so far?</h2>

His quest began last December with perhaps his toughest challenge of the entire 168lbs division, against Britain's then-unbeaten Callum Smith. Smith entered the fight as the defending WBA (Super) champion and also The Ring's recognised lineal titleholder, following his victory in the respected World Boxing Super Series super-middleweight tournament to claim the Muhammad Ali Trophy. In addition, the WBC announced the winner would receive their vacated version of the title.

After decisioning Smith and then defending those three belts in a demolition job against Avni Yildirim, Canelo then put them on the line against the WBO belt of another unbeaten Brit, Billy Joe Saunders. A spectacular shot from Alvarez did serious damage to Saunders and forced his corner to withdraw him from the right, adding to Alvarez's collection. That leaves only Plant to overcome in order to complete the set.

<h2>What does WBA (Super) championship mean?</h2>

The WBA, in addition to being one of four recognised sanctioning bodies with their own world championship, also attempt to have a 'Super' champion, a 'regular' champion and sometimes more, including one or more 'interim' champion (even if the other various champions are active).

As a result, many boxing outlets (including DAZN) choose to only recognise one at a time. It can often be whoever holds the 'Super' version, or perhaps whichever champion has a more lineal claim to a title belt. However, right now the majority of outlets recognise Alvarez, and only Alvarez, as the WBA's super-middleweight champion.

Junior Dos Santos is ready to compete for boxing titles after a successful period in MMA where he was one of the UFC’s leading fighters. 

After signing with SJAM Boxing, the company that have guided Joe Joyce to within touching distance of a world title shot, the former heavyweight champion inside the cage is ready achieve similar in the boxing ring. 

In recent years, a number of MMA competitors have traded the octagon for the squared circle but the results have not been successful. In 2017, Conor McGregor attempted to defeat Floyd Mayweather but was emphatically stopped and earlier this year, Tyron Woodley was beaten on points by novice pro and YouTuber, Jake Paul.

Dos Santos is confident he can beat the trend. 

"Even in MMA I was known as a boxing guy. "I would train boxing everyday but jiu-jitsu only three times per week. I consider myself a boxing guy. Now I want to test myself in a real professional boxing fight. 

"There is something different about boxing which is just beautiful. It is a different art. When you do it well? Beautiful. I have always loved boxing. I have trained with the highest-level guys in Brazil like Robson Conceicao. 

"It was always a big dream for myself to do it. But I was having a successful career. Now is the right time. I'm a free agent."

Around the same time that Kamaru Usman headlines UFC 268 against Colby Covington in New York City on Saturday night, Canelo Alvarez will be clashing with Caleb Plant at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

While the champions sharing a crowded combat sports night is great in his opinion, Usman, the UFC welterweight titleholder, is hoping to share the same ring with the unified super-middleweight boxing champion and sensation someday soon.

Straight up — Usman believes a fight with Canelo has got to happen.

“It only makes sense because we’re in an era to where people want to be entertained,” Usman told DAZN over the phone Tuesday evening about a potential mega bout with the Mexican superstar. “So, in order to entertain people, when have we in history ever seen the two pound-for-pound fighters in the world in combat sports at the top of their prime, when have we ever seen them compete? It never happened.”

With Usman, 34, and Canelo being 31-years-old, “The Nigerian Nightmare” thinks the timing is right for both fighting champions to scrap and make history under what could be one of the grandest marquees that combat sports has ever seen. Usman just thinks there needs to be urgency to make the dream bout happen in order for it to not repeat history when it comes to these kinds of mega clashes.

“Either man waits for the other one to get old,” Usman continued about the norm when it comes to crossover fights of this caliber. “It’s rarely ever really happened. But it’s either that both are out of their prime, both are old … it’s never been done.”

There’s no doubting either man’s dominance in his respective sport. In mixed martial arts, Usman (19-1) is seemingly growing more dominant with age. The welterweight champion has won 18 consecutive fights, punctuating three of his last four bouts with knockouts. He has defended his title four times since first being crowned welterweight king back in March 2019, having made the likes of Covington, Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal (twice) all feel his wrath. The <a href="https://youtube.com/shorts/PxlPv1jSxAg?feature=share">latter KO of Masvidal back in April</a> put the combat sports world on extra notice of Usman's punching power.

Over in the sweet science, Canelo (56-1-2) stands as a four-division world champ — with Plant’s IBF title keeping him from becoming the first super middleweight champion in boxing history. He, too, is growing more dominant and showing more tools with each fight.

With boxing’s super middleweight being contested at 168 pounds and Usman tipping the scales at 169.5 pounds for his last fight, weight wouldn’t be an issue for a potential Usman-Canelo pairing.

So much so that the thought of facing Covington in a rematch this weekend isn’t keeping Usman from projecting the sheer magnitude of how it would be boxing with Canelo.

“In order for us to do that, this will be the greatest, the biggest event ever,” Usman said. “The two pound-for-pound fighters in combat sports at the top of their prime to get in there and duke it out, I believe will be probably the biggest event ever.”

He just might be right.

Carl Frampton believes that Jake Paul is the favourite in his fight with Tommy Fury.

Paul and light heavyweight fighter Fury - the brother of WBC champion Tyson Fury - meet on December 18 in a long-anticipated fight.

Both fighters hold unbeaten records, and while Fury was unimpressive in his win over Anthony Taylor on Paul’s last card, against Tyron Woodley, he represents the first credible boxing professional that the YouTuber will face in his career.

Speaking to <a href="https://www.joe.co.uk/sport/carl-frampton-backs-jake-paul-to-beat-relative-novice-tommy-fury-297303" target="_blank">JOE</a>,  former super-bantamweight and featherweight champion Frampton, who retired earlier this year after defeat to Jamel Herring, believes that the American has the edge.

“I think that it’s a huge fight and if I’m being honest, I’d probably favour Jake Paul in the fight," he said.

“He carefully picked his opponents obviously and he’s not fought a boxer yet, but the first boxer he’s fighting is a guy who’s a relative novice in the grand scheme of things and who seems to have issues going more than four rounds.

“So I think that I would favour Jake Paul in that fight and then we hear him, as mad as it may sound, he’s beat a real boxer, although it’s Tommy Fury, he starts calling out Gervonta Davis, Canelo [Álvarez] it’s mental.

“But, yeah I’d favour him in the fight against Tommy Fury.”

Frank Warren has backed Tyson Fury to beat Dillian Whyte if they meet in a WBC mandatory defence.

Whyte won his WBC interim championship from Alexander Povetkin earlier this year, but had to pull out of an October 30 fight against Otto Wallin with a shoulder injury.

That has led to speculation that he will finally be able to move straight to a mandatory challenge of Fury, who beat Deontay Wilder for a second time to defend his belt earlier in the month.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman explained that he anticipates Whyte being given the nod for a mandatory match-up with Fury next year, with an undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk most likely delayed by a 2022 rematch with Anthony Joshua and the Ukrainian.

Speaking to<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiWeI-T1Whg&feature=youtu.be" target="_blank"> IFL TV</a>, Warren - Fury’s co-promoter - is confident his man will win.

"I think he'll do a job on him. I just look at the form line. I look at Dillian Whyte fighting Derek Chisora twice. I think the first fight Chisora nicked it, but the decision was given to Dillian," he said.

"The second fight, Derek was winning that fight till Dillian pulled it out the bag and done what he had to do, which was a good finish and he did that.

"Then I look at what Tyson did with Derek Chisora. I mean, that was a better Derek Chisora. That was a younger Derek Chisora. For me, Derek didn't win a second of any round.

"Going into that fight I fancied Derek would give him a real problem and I fancied Derek may beat him, but Tyson done an absolute job on him."

Warren praised his fighter, looking back over his years in the ring.

"It's strange with Tyson, he's like a 10-year overnight sensation. He's done everything that's been asked with him and he's done it in different ways," he said.

"When you look at what he did with Klitschko, it was an out and out boxing lesson in the other guy's backyard.

"Then he's been to the States now and beat, again, the man in three entirely different types of fights against Deontay Wilder.

"All exciting, that's how adaptable he is. He's an unbelievable boxer Tyson, unbelievable fighter, unbelievable brawler when he wants to be."

Viddal RIley is ready to fight Jake Paul after the YouTuber claimed he would beat the professional fighter.

Riley is making a return to his career after spending some time coaching other fighters, including Paul’s erstwhile rival AnEsonGib in his first bout.

However, before any fight could be made between the pair, Paul has to face off against light heavyweight Tommy Fury, brother of the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, on December 18.

Paul has claimed that he could beat Riley, and <a href="https://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/12458029/jake-paul-warned-by-viddal-riley-i-cant-let-him-say-that-he-can-beat-me-its-too-far" target="_blank">Sky Sports</a> reported that Riley has dismissed the claims.

"This guy says that he believes he can beat me," Riley said.

"As a fighter, and someone that is dedicating their life to the sport, he should feel that he can beat other fighters.

"But it's never come out of his mouth before. I don't think about him like that - I don't want to fight these men. I want to keep my path traditional in the ring.

"But if he says things like that?

"I will fight Jake if it makes sense and if certain stipulations are in place.

"I won't go out of my way to hype it up, to hunt him down and say: 'You've got me next'.

"Honestly I don't care. But I can't let him say that he can beat me. It's too far."

However, Riley acknowledged he would take the opportunity to fight Paul, saying: "Of course I would take it. But I won't chase it.

"I want to do my own thing and have my own career. I am not involved in the [YouTuber boxing] market."

The DAZN Boxing Show discussed the potential for an upset as Caleb Plant prepares to fight Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez this weekend.

The pair fight on Saturday night, with the victor becoming the undisputed super middleweight champion. Canelo brings the WBA, WBC and WBO belts, while Californian fighter Plant is the IBF champion.

Speaking on the <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-FR/home/ArticleId:pvfycvlfoj821vv6tjk2vt55i" target="_blank">DAZN Boxing Show</a>, Barack Bess praised Plant.

“I believe that Plant is a phenomenal fighter. And I do believe that Canelo will go into the fight smart and he will definitely keep his emotions in check,” he began.

“But the real question is, how dangerous is Plant? Because if you were to ask me a couple of years ago, I would have said Plant’s too big for Canelo. Matter of fact, I've said that before,  then what happens?

“Canelo moves up in weight, and he fights guys better than Rocky Fielding? Guys at the top? He started with Callum Smith, and he showed that size doesn't always matter when you have that much skill, and the power that Canelo was able to bring up from 154 pounds.”

Akin ‘Ak’ Reyes found it hard to gauge just how dangerous Plant would be.

“We were in London and we just saw Smith score an amazing knockout,” he explained.

“He's a very dangerous, very dangerous puncher and we saw how dangerous he was and we saw what Canelo was able to do to him. Now Plant is a phenomenal boxer, it's hard to say how dangerous he can be. He's been dangerous throughout his fights. He's undefeated. He also went the distance with [Caleb] Truax, he went to distance with other guys like Andrew Hernandez.

“It's hard to judge it because Canelo has been in there with better opposition. He has stopped better opposition. And you know, he's a more experienced fighter. Plant has the opportunity obviously to upset him, to surprise the world. But if you're a guy that wants to make a calculated guess you would have to assume that he's not up to par with Canelo.”

A pair of Cristiano Ronaldo goals powered Manchester United to a 2-2 draw at Atalanta on Matchday 4 of the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Similar to his heroics against La Dea on Matchday 3 when United fought back for a 3-2 win, Ronaldo's goals helped his side claim a crucial point.

Ronaldo scored in added time of each half on Tuesday, nullifying goal's by Atalanta's Josip Iličić and Duván Zapata.

The hosts got on the board first, with Zapata serving up a cross in the 12th minute to Iličić near the penalty spot. The Slovenian struck a first-time effort with his left foot that stayed low, forcing Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea to dive to his right. De Gea got his hands on the ball, but the power of the shot was too much to handle as the ball slipped under the falling goalkeeper.

The teams then traded chances for most of the remainder of the first half until stoppage time, when Bruno Fernandes and Ronaldo combined brilliantly in front of the Atalanta goal for United's equalizer. The goal was Ronaldo's 126th in all competitions for United, and it extended his group-stage goal-scoring streak to four games.

Despite the visitors regaining the momentum just ahead of the halftime break, it was Atalanta who would find the next goal. 

After being the provider on the game's opener, Zapata became the scorer on his team's second. In the 56th minute, the 30-year-old found himself in alone on goal after a lofted ball by José Luis Palomino, and Zapata was able to put a shot over de Gea before the United defence could intervene.

Zapata's goal boosted the belief around the Gewiss Stadium that the Italian side could secure a win after blowing a two-goal lead at Old Trafford two weeks ago, but Ronaldo had other plans.

The 36-year-old once again left it late, but in the first minute of stoppage time Ronaldo found the equalizer. After Ronaldo dribbled his way into several Atalanta defenders at the top of the penalty area, the ball fell to Mason Greenwood, who collected with a deft touch and flicked it back to his teammate. Ronaldo didn't hesitate, volleying the ball through a number of players and past a diving Juan Musso to bring the teams onto level terms.

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III will be charged with DUI resulting in the death of another person after his involvement in a car crash, police say. 

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Ruggs' vehicle struck the rear of another automobile early Tuesday morning.

"On November 2, at approximately 3:39 a.m., the LVMPD responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of South Rainbow Boulevard and South Spring Valley Parkway, involving a Chevrolet Corvette and a Toyota Rav4 Responding officers located the Toyota on fire," <a href="https://twitter.com/mickakers/status/1455592616305651716?s=20">the LVMPD said in a statement</a>. "Fire department personnel responded and located a deceased victim inside the Toyota.

"The preliminary investigation indicates the front of the Chevrolet collided with the rear of the Toyota. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 22-year-old Henry Rugs (sic) III, remained on scene and showed signs of impairment. He was transported to UMC hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Ruggs will be charged with DUI resulting in death. This is an on-going investigation."

It's unclear when Ruggs will be charged, but in Nevada a DUI resulting in death comes with a sentence with <a href="https://www.leg.state.nv.us/nrs/nrs-484c.html#NRS484CSec430">"a minimum term of not less than 2 years and a maximum term of not more than 20 years."</a>

<a href="http://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/nfl/henry-ruggs-dui-charge-fatal-car-crash-1.6234331">The Associated Press reports</a> that Ruggs had a female passenger with him the in Corvette who was also taken to the hospital. She has not been identified.

Ruggs' attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, <a href="https://www.8newsnow.com/news/local-news/fiery-crash-closes-rainbow-between-tropicana-and-flamingo/">released a statement on his behalf</a>.

“On behalf of our client Henry Ruggs III, we are conducting our own investigation as of this writing and ask everyone to reserve judgement until all the facts are gathered,” the statement read.

The Raiders also released a statement Tuesday afternoon, offering condolences to the victim's family.

When Liverpool and Atletico Madrid met on Matchday 3 of the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League, the Reds came away with their first-ever victory over the Rojiblancos.

Now, the Premier League side gets the chance to earn its first-ever home victory against Atleti, as the teams reconvene on Wednesday at Anfield for Matchday 4.

The previous match was a wild ride, with Atleti battling back from an early two-goal deficit only to give up a 78th-minute penalty that Mo Salah converted to ensure the Liverpool victory. Additionally, the man who played a large part in engineering Atleti's comeback, Antoine Griezmann, will be unavailable for Wednesday as he picked up a red card after scoring both of his team's goals.

One man who is expected to be at Anfield is Luis Suarez. The former Liverpool star will likely lead Atletico's attack as the Spanish team looks to erase a 3-2 aggregate deficit, and he's someone the home side will have a keen interest in.

"I think we all know he’s a top player for a long time, produced so many good moments at Liverpool," midfielder Jordan Henderson <a href="https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/jordan-henderson-atletico-rematch-luis-suarez-challenge-and-more">said of Suarez</a>. "I learned a lot from him while he was here, I’m quite close to him, I speak to him now and again. He’s a world-class player and he causes a lot of problems for defences, he’s always in and around the goal and if he gets a chance, I’m sure he’ll take it.

"So we’ve got to be on our guard with him – not only him, they’ve got world-class players all over – but certainly Luis is a top striker and will cause any team problems."

Oleksandr Usyk’s tremendous performance to unseat WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titleholder Anthony Joshua in London could lead to the chance of becoming an undisputed champion in two divisions, provided he is also successful in next year’s rematch.

And the former four-belt cruiserweight ruler admitted in an exclusive interview with DAZN that he would love to take on another British fighter in order to achieve that undisputed dream: current unbeaten WBC champ Tyson Fury.

Usyk has accumulated a large resume of defeating British opponents on their own turf: Joe Joyce was bested by Usyk in a World Series of Boxing semi-professional encounter at York Hall in 2013; Tony Bellew retired after a failed challenge for Usyk’s unified cruiserweight crown in 2018; Derek Chisora was beaten via decision in 2020 and then of course came the Joshua fight in September.

“I have now faced many great British opponents,” admitted Usyk. “To be honest, they were all amazing in their own way but I felt as though Joshua was the most interesting, especially as there were three championship belts to gain. 

“My performance that night was perhaps my very best and if I can beat him a second time, I would look forward to maybe facing one more great British boxer and that is of course Tyson Fury.”

Usyk was considered the underdog heading into the ‘AJ’ fight due to size and heavyweight experience, but did not look much smaller at all when he went toe-to-toe with the now-former champ.

And while the towering Fury is of course even bigger still, there is now no denying the the threat Usyk poses with his mesmerising movement and superbly-timed combinations.

“I try not to concern myself with things like the size difference, whether it be against Joshua, Fury or anyone else,” the Ukrainian said of the situation. 

“My team and I train very hard and work on ways to succeed, and we would go into any fight with the right gameplan.”

Interestingly, Usyk weighed in for the Joshua showdown at 221lbs, which while his heaviest professional weight yet, was nonetheless lighter than that of Oscar Rivas, who in October hit the scales at just over 222lbs before beating Ryan Rozicki to become the WBC’s inaugural ‘bridgerweight’ champion.

The ‘bridgerweight’ concept, which offers an additional weight bracket between heavyweight and cruiserweight, has thus far only been taken on by the WBC and has received negative feedback from many fans, some of which claimed it would merely be a consolation prize for fighters Usyk’s size.

Nonetheless, the actual Rivas-Rozicki contest was well-received and although Usyk silenced the doubters by winning three heavyweight belts, he not only believes the new division can succeed but that it may also one day have his undivided attention.

Usyk explained: “I think the bridgerweight division could prove over time to be a good thing, because I know that there are a lot of fighters who are the perfect weight to succeed there and create great fights. 

“My goal was always to become a heavyweight champion but in the future, who knows? Maybe I will fight at bridgerweight myself one day. It would be one more belt for me to win.”

Antonio Conte has returned to the Premier League.

The Italian was named manager of Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, just 24 hours after the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo. A former Chelsea manager with a Premier League and FA Cup title to his name, Conte was considered by many to be one of the best coaches without a club prior to his joining the London side.

The 52-year-old takes over as Spurs boss after leading Inter Milan to a Serie A title during the 2020-21 season, the first campaign in a decade in which a team other than Juventus claimed the Scudetto. Despite their success together, Conte and Inter announced in May that he would be leaving the club by mutual consent.

Conte was immediately with linked to the Spurs job, among many others, although Tottenham's pursuit was fruitless at the time. The club instead hired former Wolves boss Nuno, who led Spurs to a 5-0-5 start to the Premier League campaign.

The Portuguese manager was sacked following Saturday's 0-3 loss to Manchester United, paving the way for Conte to step in.

“Last summer our union did not happen because the end of my relationship with Inter was still too recent and emotionally too involved with the end of the season, so I felt that it wasn’t yet the right time to return to coaching," Conte said.

“But the contagious enthusiasm and determination of [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy in wanting to entrust me with this task had already hit the mark. Now that the opportunity has returned, I have chosen to take it with great conviction.”

In addition to Chelsea and Inter, Conte has also managed the Italy national team, Juventus, Siena, Atalanta and Bari. His contract with Spurs run through the end of the 2023 season, with an option to extend.

Canelo Alvarez could fight in Britain in 2022. That’s the opinion of Eddie Hearn, the Matchroom chairman who has promoted the recent stages of the Mexican's iconic career.  

On Saturday night, Canelo meets Caleb Plant in an attempt to unify every belt at super-middleweight and Hearn has already got his eyes on securing Canelo’s next date if he can overcome Plant. 

Victory over the Tennessee fighter will essentially mean that Canelo has cleaned out the 12st division.  

With threats existing at middleweight and light-heavyweight, options are still plentiful for the four-division world champion but Hearn holds hope that he can bring Canelo to London for the next phase of his career. 

Canelo is no stranger to British fight fans after defeating numerous English champions and contenders such as Billy Joe Saunders, Callum and Liam Smith, Matthew Hatton, and Amir Khan.  

After inflicting so much misery on British boxers, it would be quite a turnaround for Canelo to fight in London. 

I’ve already spoke to Canelo about coming to England to fight next year,” said Hearn during an Instagram Live session.

“And he would love to do it, love to fight in England.” 

Reading one of the comments after making the statement, Hearn responded, "Yes, ‘Canelo vs Ryder in February at the O2 Arena.'”

Eddie Hearn says Canelo Alvarez would love to fight in Britain next year

It wasn’t just Kid Galahad who enjoyed featherweight success over the last few months, fellow Brit Leigh Wood also captured a world belt, albeit a WBA ‘regular’ title, after beating Xu Can at Fight Camp last July. 

During an interview with DAZN News, Galahad delved into the relationship he has had with Wood from an early age.

“We’ve known each other since I was about 13 years old, he used to box for a different amateur gym, I used to box for the Ingles.”

“He was a better amateur than me, but as a professional I excelled more than he did. I was never groomed to be an amateur fighter,” Galahad told DAZN News.

When asked about a potential fight with Wood after his clash with Kiko Martinez on November 13 live on DAZN, Galahad was more than ready to step into the ring with the Nottingham man, but he won't class it as a unification fight. 

“Yes 100%, there’s no point in me saying let’s have a unification because realistically they’re not going to elevate him [Leigh Wood] to super champion,” Galahad stated.

“If he wants to fight me, he can vacate his regular world title, and fight me for a fully blown world title. I’m giving him a shot to fight for a world title now, but instead he’s taken a route where he has to fight two guys to fight for a world title, Michael Conlan then Leo Santa Cruz.”

“I’m giving him the opportunity to fight me straightaway, it doesn’t make sense, if you’re getting a straight shot at a world title like I offered them, why wouldn’t you take it.”
