Golden State Warriors clinched the NBA championship for the first time since 2018 with a 103-90 win over the Boston Celtics.
Stephen Curry was in sensational form as he collected his first Finals MVP award delivering a performance that confirmed Golden State’s dominance as they secured the series with a 4-2 win.
The Celtics began the game impressively as they raced into a 14-2 lead and before the end of the first quarter, the Boston side were still in control as they led by six points. At this point, The Warriors exploded into life, and it wasn’t long before they were in full control as they repeatedly scored to take the contest away from their opponents.
Curry, playing some of the best basketball of his life, finishes the series with impressive numbers and his MVP title is a fitting reward for what has been a superb campaign for the 34-year-old point guard. His 34 points in the series clinching game was also complimented by seven assists and the same number of rebounds.
The championship is the fourth won by Golden State in eight years as they continue to show a similar authority in the sport that the Chicago Bulls demonstrated in the 1990s when spearheaded by Michael Jordan.
