Adam Azim forced to go the distance against Santos ReyesDAZN

Adam Azim maintained his impressive run as he was far too good for the outgunned Nicaraguan, Santos Reyes, who he defeated on points after ten one sided rounds.

Azim has correctly been identified as one of the best prospects in world boxing and although sterner tests are waiting for him, he had more than enough to become the first man to inflict defeat on Reyes and secure the WBA Continental title at 140lbs.

Azim made an uncharacteristic quiet start as he eased his way into the fight rather than make his typical explosive beginning.

Azim showed his power in the fight’s second session as he landed an excellent shot that threatened to stop Reyes in his tracks. Despite flooring Reyes, Azim couldn’t find the punch to end it in the same round.

Azim continued to dominate but he couldn’t muster up the necessary attacks to bring the contest to an early end.

Reyes was resilient but he offered little in terms of going forward and that allowed Azim to take control for the entire fight.

The Slough man went the ten-round distance for the first time and his efforts were rewarded with scores of 100-89 across the board.
