Alan Picasso revealed a surprising ambition after defeating Sabelo Ngebinyana for the WBC silver super bantamweight championship on Saturday night.
Picasso kept his unbeaten record in Mexico City, and added a strap to his name.
Speaking after the fight, Picasso explained the work that had got him the win.
“I’m so excited, I’m so happy. To do the work, all the work, for this moment, is fantastic for me,” he said.
Through a translator, he continued: “Lots of hardwork in the ring, training in the ring with a lot of southpaws, and it was all about preparing for the fight. It was a test that we passed.
“He wouldn’t fall, I hit him a lot in the liver, he wouldn’t go down. I also received some punches, there’s some stuff I need to work on in the gym.
“I’m going to rest for a week and get back in the gym for what might happen.”
However, Picasso is a keen student and determined to one day become an astronaut too.
He said: “It’s one small step for man, because I have a silver belt, but there are bigger ones out there. I’ve been working really hard, I want to go to the moon.”
