Alexis Rocha acknowledged that he can only find out if he is ready to be a world champion when he has the opportunity and that is why, after defeating George Ashie of Ghana, he immediately challenged Terence Crawford, the owner of the World Boxing Organization welterweight belt.
Rocha is currently ranked number four in the world by the WBO and said he is ready to test himself against the best names in a division loaded with talent.
"That was what I had to do. A statement. Come on. I'm ready for the big names," he said after improving his record to 22-1, 14 KO's, this Saturday night at Inglewood, California.
"I'm here to fight, four fights in 12 months. I knew he (Ashie) wasn't coming to hang with me... but I took the s*** out of him. But now I'm here for the big names. I want Crawford now. Everybody's telling me if I'm ready, I'll know when I'm in the ring... VIVA MEXICO CABRONES": Alexis Rocha said.
Rocha asked for the Crawford fight now that the undisputed bout with Errol Spence will have to wait and taking advantage of Bud's recent visit to Oscar de la Hoya's office.
"We sent the contract back and are waiting for a response. I'm very optimistic that on April 15 we'll see Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia... We have future plans for (Terence) Crawford. I told him we could make the fight with (Errol) Spence. Tank vs. Garcia will open a lot of doors for us. We are confident that Crawford vs. Spence will happen", declared the Golden Boy during the broadcast.
