Unified champion Amanda Serrano dominated Danila Ramos of Brazil from start to finish on Saturday night in Florida in what was the first 12-round, three-minute women's world title fight since 2007.
Amanda took the unanimous decision victory (120-108, 120-108 and 120-108) and defended the WBA, WBO and IBF featherweight crowns.
"I went through the whole fight and I still have the energy to hold all my belts," she joked after hearing the scorecards.
"This was a historic night. I hope it's just the beginning because I know there are a lot of women coming after me. I know the future is bright for us," she added.
From the start of the fight, Ramos showed good defensive and counter-punching skills but it was not enough to overcome the high volume of punches thrown by the champion.
Serrano and her opponent in turn did not slow down the pace throughout the 36-minute bout and gave a demonstration of boxing quality. However, Serrano looked to finish the fight from the tenth round onwards, but Ramos drew on her experience and managed to survive to the end.
Both Serrano and Ramos said they hoped this fight was just the beginning of change for the boxers coming up behind them.
