Amir Khan was ringside to see Artur Beterbiev defeat Dmitry Bivol earlier this month, and he doesn't think any fighter is capable of beating the new undisputed light-heavyweight champion.
Beterbiev was handed a majority decision verdict in a stunning battle that saw him edge Bivol to become the first four belt champion at 175lbs.
The fight was as good as everybody expected as Beterbiev used pressure to combat the brilliant skillset displayed by Bivol.
In the fight’s closing stages, Bivol began to slow, and it was the marauding Beterbiev who got on top as he rallied brilliantly to win all the championship rounds on all three scorecards.
Since the announcement of the result, the boxing community has been split on the outcome due to the closeness of the battle, but Khan has no doubts who he thinks deserved to win.
The former world champion was mightily impressed with Beterbiev and he’s now offered his thoughts on the pound-for-pound superstar.
“It was an amazing fight. Both fighters fought out of their skin. Big shots were landing and getting defended. One thing I can say, it’s the first fight I’ve seen Beterbiev fight. What a beast he is,” said Khan when speaking to Pro Boxing Fans.
“I thought Bivol was going to win this fight, but after watching this fight and seeing how Beterbiev fought, there’s nobody beating him. The guy was punch perfect. A great defence, very strong, and hits hard with both hands.
“You can see how marked up Bivol was, but there’s no marks on Beterbiev’s face, this guy is an animal.”
