Amir Khan wants to see Wayne Rooney enter the boxing world and he’s picked out Jamie Vardy as the ideal rival for the former Manchester United man.
Last month, numerous reports emerged that Rooney was considering stepping into the ring and since then several fights have been suggested for him.
Despite enjoying a successful run as one of his generation’s best footballers, Rooney has always been a big boxing fan deep down, but will we see him actually fight?
His wife, Coleen, recently had to go to court to settle a lengthy dispute with Rebekah Vardy, partner of Jamie, and Khan thinks that could be the way to promote the fight.
“Jamie Vardy is the right fight for Wayne Rooney, that's a very good even fight. They've got the spat their wives have had, what a fight that would make, it would sell well,” said Khan when speaking to Gambling Zone.
They're both around the same level as well. They're both novices. I'd back Wayne though because Wayne's more streetwise, he's more solid.”
