Social distancing and quarantining due to the coronavirus outbreak have created a new normal within our society worldwide.
Unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua took to his social media accounts Tuesday to send a message of support to his fans. From the toddlers who miss their friends to the teenagers yearning to get on their bicycles and slide into movie theaters, to adults like himself building their futures and adults who have been preparing for their futures for many years, Joshua wanted to let them know that he understands their plight and is giving them his full support.
"I would love to be out there right now doing the most — on my dirt bikes, meeting up with my boys, sparring, going down (to) the boxing gym — but even a rebel like me is trying to follow some guidelines and trying to do the right thing," Joshua said in the clip.
"So, really, it's just a message just to say you've got my support; I'm with you through this. We're all doing the right thing."
As the video goes on, Joshua extends his message of support to people who have contracted COVID-19.
"To the people who are suffering with coronavirus, I wish you a speedy recovery because it is no joke," Joshua said. "We haven't found no cure or antidote for it right now, so I'm wishing you a speedy recovery. And to the ones who have suffered and lost loved ones due to the coronavirus, I want to say keep your head up.
"And to all the NHS workers ... we appreciate you," Joshua tacked on moments later in salute of the National Health Service workers in England helping to fight the coronavirus. "We take you for granted, but we really do appreciate you and honor what you're doing — being on the frontline."
As of Wednesday morning, the coronavirus pandemic has topped 860,000 cases worldwide, including 29,474 in the United Kingdom that Joshua calls home, as reported by the Daily Mirror. The same outlet reports that England's death toll stands at 2,352.
