The project aims to lead up to AJ's planned superfight with domestic heavyweight rival Tyson Fury in 2021.

Anthony Joshua is launching his own production company and will create a movie about his rise to the top of the heavyweight ranks.

The current WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion will follow in the footsteps of David Beckham in running his own firm, according to The Sun.

They say work on the documentary has already begun, and will serve as a lead-in to Joshua's eventual unification fight with fellow Brit Tyson Fury, who currently holds the WBC and The Ring titles.

The newspaper also reports that a bidding war between the various streaming services is anticipated by Joshua and his team, with Netflix being a potential destination for the movie.

Joshua and Fury have agreed in principle to a two-fight deal, with the first showdown expected to land sometime in 2021 when a reasonable proportion of fans are once again permitted to attend live boxing.

The documentary is set to contain previously-unseen fly-on-the-wall footage going as far back as Joshua's professional debut back in 2013.

A source said: “AJ’s rise to the top has been meteoric. For the first time, this is opening up the archives and showing people what really goes on, and will build up to the long-awaited Fury bout.

“There has been lots of interest in an AJ film for a while, but after seeing the way that other sportsmen have got into the movie business, he felt taking on the project himself was an exciting challenge and would allow him to really connect with fans.

“It’s a huge leap but the finished movie will be huge.”

Joshua must first get past Kubrat Pulev on Dec. 12 in what will be his first bout in a year thanks in part to the coronavirus pandemic.

“This is a natural step for me," the champion said. “Aside from my own personal content projects, I am really excited to follow the stories of other athletes and help them gain mass exposure.”
