Daniel Dubois has sent shockwaves through the heavyweight division.

Daniel Dubois retained his IBF heavyweight title on Saturday night after knocking out Anthony Joshua at a packed Wembley Stadium.

Going into what was the biggest fight of his career, many questioned whether Dubois would be able to rise to the occasion in front of 96,000 fans, and judging by the ring walk he was calm and relaxed. This was a stark contrast to Joshua who was stone faced during his entrance when he is usually enjoying the moment and even taking fist bumps from fans.

With both men known for their punching power, not many expected this world title fight to go the distance and Dubois immediately went on the front foot and met Joshua in the centre of the ring.

The first round saw Dubois looking to establish the jab early to set up the right hand, and it rocked Joshua before a second right knocked down the two-time world champion to the canvas.

Wembley Stadium was in shock, and Dubois continued to increase the pressure with his jab, frequently rocking Joshua who had no answer for what was thrown at him.

The third round saw Joshua down once more courtesy of a Dubois left hand with approximately 14 seconds remaining and the writing was on the wall for one of British boxing's biggest stars.

Joshua aimed to regroup in round four, but he was still unable to land anything of note on Dubois to gain his respect. Joshua was trying to find anything to provide some inspiration, he even attempted to unsettle Dubois by directing him to his stool at the end of the round.

Come the fifth, Dubois stepped on the gas backed Joshua into a corner, landed a right hand, then a second right which was the final nail in the coffin, sending Joshua to the canvas and unable to meet the referee’s count.

Many had written off Dubois before this fight, but now with a win over a marquee name in Joshua, “Dynamite” is someone to be feared, and with Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury ringside, they could be having second thoughts about facing a dangerous Dubois following their rematch on December 21.
