It was always a big wish of David Haye’s to share the ring with Anthony Joshua, but those hopes were dashed when he was beaten twice by Tony Bellew.
In the build-up to his fights with the Liverpool man, Haye made it clear that Joshua was his ultimate target, but how would that fight have gone if both men were at their best?
Paulie Malignaggi has had his say on the potential contest and although he’s a big admirer of Haye, he gives the edge to Joshua.
At his peak, Haye was a formidable cruiserweight champion before moving up to heavyweight and registering some very impressive wins against the likes of Nikolai Valuev.
“Haye was an enigma, so on one hand, you'd think he could beat Joshua, but then you think it's Haye, he'd probably figure out a way not to be good in a fight like that,” said Malignaggi when speaking to Lord Ping.
“I'm not knocking Haye, he was a great cruiserweight, but I'd pick AJ. AJ would be too vicious."
