Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou could be 'one of the biggest fights' in boxing history, says Eddie HearnTop Rank

Francis Ngannou's performance against Tyson Fury over the weekend impressed many in the boxing world, including Eddie Hearn.

The Matchroom boss gave the former UFC heavyweight champion little chance in his boxing debut, but after watching the fight Hearn feels Ngannou should've been named the winner instead of Fury.

But perhaps the biggest indicator that Hearn was impressed by the Cameroonian pugilist came Monday, when Hearn floated the idea of a fight between Ngannou and two-time former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

According to Hearn, such a fight could rewrite boxing history.

"Now I'm looking at it and I'm thinking, 'Francis Ngannou against Anthony Joshua, perhaps in Africa, perhaps the Rumble in the Jungle 2, is one of the biggest fights in the history of the sport,'" Hearn told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour

Hearn even went so far as to make a prediction for the potential bout.

"I promise you this," he said. "Respect to Francis, easy work for my man (Joshua)."

While there's been no word about Ngannou's interest in a fight against Joshua, the biggest obstacle may be "AJ" himself.

"I went back to AJ and I said, 'look, I've met with Francis Ngannou, what a lovely gentleman. What do you think?'" Hearn explained. "And he went, "I'm not interested. I don't like the gimmick stuff, I just want to win the world championship.'"
