Carlos Takam believes Anthony Joshua will need to employ similar tactics to Muhammad Ali when the legendary heavyweight sensationally stopped George Foreman in 1974.
Joshua begins Friday’s fight, live on DAZN PPV, as a significant favourite, but he’s received some words of caution from one of his former opponents.
Takam lost to Joshua in 2017, but the Frenchman has taken a keen interest in this fight due to his rivalry with Joshua and the fact Ngannou is his countryman.
Takam is a huge admirer of Ngannou’s power, and he’s compared this imminent bout to the Rumble in the Jungle which took place almost half a century ago.
“Every day I picture the fight between AJ and Francis and in my mind, I see AJ knocked out,” said Takam when speaking to Lucky Block.
Francis is going to win that fight, but it's not going to be easy. The strong guy is Francis, the smart guy is Francis, the only chance AJ has got is if he fights like Muhammed Ali.
“Keep the distance from Francis, fight AJ like Ali fought George Foreman. He needs to move like Ali.”
