There are only a few remaining details to be discussed before the fight can be announced.

Eddie Hearn has said that the proposed fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury could be announced as soon as next week.

The Matchroom promoter has told DAZN’s Boxing with Chris Mannix that negotiations are continuing and there are only a few details left to be ironed out.

“Those discussion points are diminishing all the time. We hope in the next week... We’re really close and we’ll get an announcement soon.

“We want an agreement where both fighters can say we’re agreed, we’ve got a deal, it’s on, and then we can go out and finalise a site and a date.”

Hearn explained that he is yet to confirm a venue for the first fight - expected to be held outside the UK to maximise ticket sales in the face of Britain’s coronavirus restrictions - because he does not want any loose ends before finalising a deal with a site.

“That’s an arduous process with a lot of detail, and I don’t want to go through that process until we know we have a fight.

“I want to go out to these sites and say if you sign on the dotted line, you’ve got the biggest fight in history, congratulations.

“You’ve got the undisputed heavyweight world championship.”
