Anthony Joshua took to social media to tell fight fans across the globe that the first official offer to host his planned heavyweight unification superfight with Tyson Fury has been received.
WBA, WBO and IBF champion Joshua and WBC and The Ring titleholder Fury agreed to meet in the ring last year, before signing a contract for a two-fight deal earlier in 2021. However, with a date and a venue yet to be confirmed, the bout feels far from official and many have continued to doubt whether it will go ahead at all.
On Twitter, 'AJ' suggested that things are finally beginning to look real.
"Positive news this evening!," posted Joshua late on Sunday. "I'm lacing my running boots right now!"
"258 Management and Matchroom Boxing have received the first OFFICIAL offer to host the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world!
"I will be victorious, God willing! No place to hide now! I'm coming!"
There is no word on exactly where that initial offer has come from, though a Middle East country is expected to present the most appealing package to both fighters and their teams.
Wembley Stadium does seem to be back in the running, though those involved have admitted that the money from staging the first fight in the UK would only be able to potentially compare to overseas site fees if they can pack the near-100,000 seater to capacity, which remains up in the air as the nation slowly eases out of lockdown.
Over the weekend, Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn attempted to emphasise how important recent gradual developments were to finally getting this megafight over the finish line.
"Joshua doesn't talk much about fights - but he talks when it's close," Hearn had told Sky Sports. "You can feel the excitement building.
"The teams will get together. I will try to see Bob Arum on Tuesday. We're nearly there. We have worked really hard and we don't want to give in."
