Antonio Margarito shared the ring with many of boxing’s leading names during his lengthy career but who was the best fighter he ever faced?
After sharing many rounds with the likes of Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao, Margarito does not credit either man as his best overall opponent, with that honour going to Shane Mosley.
At the start of 2009, fresh off the biggest win of his career against Miguel Cotto in their first meeting, Margarito faced Mosley.
The California veteran was considered to be in the final stages of his career, but he turned in a stunning performance to dominate Margarito before stopping him in the ninth round. Margarito has paid tribute to Mosley regarding that performance.
“Mosley, Shane had it all,” said Margarito when speaking to The Ring on who was the best fighter he faced.
“Hand speed, footwork, punch, defence, and he could take a punch.”
