Discussions for a potential Josh Taylor vs. Teofimo Lopez fight are still ongoing and if all goes well, we could see the intriguing super lightweight clash this summer.
Lopez was once considered a main feature of boxing’s future but lacklustre displays following a 2021 loss to George Kambosos have diminished his value ahead of a possible battle with Taylor.
Arnold Barboza, a leading contender at 140lbs, has offered his verdict on the fight and he thinks that Lopez has a genuine chance of restoring his credibility.
With Taylor currently recovering from injury, anything less than a 100% version of the Scottish champion benefits Lopez, and Barboza is also ready to test himself against the victor.
“I think if Taylor comes in 100% healthy like he was against Ramirez and Regis - he wins the fight but I heard he is not 100% percent healthy so I think Teo will have the advantage under these circumstances,” said Barboza to BoxingScene
“Of course I would fight the winner. I want the winner of the fight or any champion or any big name at 140 pounds.”
