Hasim Rahman believes Artur Beterbiev’s boxing skills have been underappreciated as he gets ready for the biggest fight of his career.
Beterbiev faces Dmitry Bivol this weekend, live on DAZN, and whoever emerges victorious will be crowned undisputed light-heavyweight champion.
Since turning professional in 2013, Beterbiev has blasted his way to the top of the 175lbs division with 20 consecutive stoppages from as many fights.
Recognised as one of the most dangerous fighters on the planet, Beterbiev’s reputation has been built on his heavy hands.
Despite his menacing aura, there are plenty of other qualities to admire when observing Beterbiev, but some may have been lost when comparing him to Bivol.
The conqueror of Canelo Alvarez is one of boxing’s skillful fighters and, like Beterbiev, he’s been very impressive during his ascent to world title level.
Rahman, the former heavyweight champion of the world, still keeps a close eye on the sport he excelled in and he’s played a significant role in the development of is son, heavyweight prospect, Hasim Rahman Jr.

Always quick to offer an opinion on all the big fights, Rahman has delivered his verdict on this Saturday’s meeting that has the entire boxing industry split.
“Artur Beterbiev has excellent boxing skills. He had a tremendous amateur background and went to two Olympics,” said Rahman when speaking to FightHype.
“Nobody has brought it out yet because his power is so devastating. That rules everything. Bivol, if he makes Beterbiev box, he’ll beat him. He’s a better fighter. I do think Bivol has better footwork, but I think Beterbiev has the ability to cut the ring off and make him fight.
“If you’re telling me that Bivol is not going to get hit by Beterbiev. If you’re not telling me that, then you’re not telling me anything I want to hear because he’s going to lose.”
