Chris Eubank Jr.'s dream of a bout with Canelo Alvarez looks one step closer after promoter Ben Shalom revealed discussions have begun with the Mexican's camp over a fight.
The Briton won his first outing in the ring in over a year when he scored a seventh-round knockout against Kamil Szeremeta in Saudi Arabia in October.
That has paved the way for a potential blockbuster date in the ring next year, with Eubank Jr. having called out a host of potential opponents during and since that fight week.

Now BOXXER boss Shalom has revealed that there are two obvious bouts to be made for the star, and that one of them could be headed to a massive outdoor date next year.
"For me the two fights for me are Canelo and Conor Benn. We've already started small conversations around the Canelo fight," Shalom told Sky Sports.
"Obviously that [fight] was close last time. I believe that's a fight that interests Canelo. You can imagine the press conference in the UK and the US, it would be absolutely huge.
"I think Canelo needs dance partners but he also needs stars. I don't think his last couple of opponents have been the biggest stars and Chris Eubank Jr's certainly a big star.
"If he's ever going to fight in the UK, that's the fight and that would sell out Wembley Stadium. That's No 1 on the list for me."
Alvarez defeated Edgar Berlanga in his last fight, to move to a 62-2-2 record and maintain his position as one of the greatest fighters of his generation.
But a bout with Eubank Jr. would potentially represent one of the biggest opponents by name he has faced since he met with Dmitry Bivol in 2022.
