Big heavyweight title bout postponed as fighter suffers injury

Big heavyweight title bout postponed as fighter suffers injuryEd Mullholland/Matchroom
One boxer has had to withdraw.

Sol Dacres is looking for a new opponent after his English heavyweight title fight against David Adeleye is now off.

The pair were set to be contesting the belt on July 20, but that bout is no longer happening after Adeleye suffered an injury whilst preparing for the fascinating encounter.

The pair are two of Britain’s rising heavyweight stars and the winner would've been in a solid position to push on for bigger fights in 2024.

Adeleye lost to Fabio Wardley last October when trying to become British champion and he was aiming to bounce back impressively against the unbeaten Dacres.

Confirming the cancellation on social media, Adeleye didn't provide the exact details of his injury, but he did announce that he will be back.

As it stands, no new foe has been announced for Dacres with the show set to take place next weekend.
