Bob Arum believes that Tyson Fury will fight only once this year and that will be at the end of 2023 and not in the summer.
In recent weeks, the WBC champion, a fighter consistently linked to huge fights, had been rumoured to be lining up a contest with recent Joe Joyce conqueror, Zhilei Zhang.
With Joyce now taking full advantage of his rematch clause with the Chinese star, it appears that Fury’s summer plans have been thwarted.
With the Oleksandr Usyk battle still very much the biggest fight available for Fury, Bob Arum, the American promoter of Fury, has had his say on what the undefeated heavyweight will do next.
“They’re waiting now, both fighters [Fury and Usyk], for the end of the year, to fight each other in the Middle East, because that’s where the big money is,” said Arum to ProBox TV.
“Right now, I think he’s going to wait, but with Tyson Fury it depends on how he wakes up in the morning.”
