Bob Arum and Vasiliy Lomachenko both questioned the scoring of the Ukrainian’s match-up with Teofimo Lopez Jr.

The pair fought on Saturday night to unify the lightweight championship at the MGM Grand Conference Center, and the American athlete won by a unanimous points decision.

Tim Cheatham scored the match 116-112 in Lopez’s favour, awarding him eight rounds. Julie Ledermen made it 11 rounds to Lopez, 119-109. Steve Weisfield had nine rounds for Lopez and scored it 117-111.

Top Rank's Arum agreed that the 23-year-old American was the winner, but could not understand the margin of the scoring.

“I gave Lopez the fight, but those scores were ridiculous,” Arum said after the fight.

“One was 119-109. What are they talking about? Julie Lederman, what kind of f—ing fight was she watching? These judges are crazy.”

Lopez appeared to dominate in the opening rounds with Lomachenko coming back into the fight in the latter stages — though all judges gave the 12th and final round to the eventual victor.

“Lopez won the fight, yeah, but Lomachenko won four of the six rounds in the back end,” Arum continued.

“And I gave him one out of the first six. I mean, that was f—ing crazy!”

Lomachenko thought he had done enough to tie the fight after a stronger second half showing.

“I don’t know. Honestly, I thought half the duel was equal,” he said after the fight.

“Maybe he won 1-2 rounds somewhere, but in the second half, I turned on. Basically, I believe that I took the other half."

He then said he would return home to reflect on his defeat and his next step.

“I want to come home and review the duel, but I disagree with the decision.

“I thought I would win, but the result is the result. I’m not going to argue with him now.”
