One man and four women will represent the Maple Leaf in boxing at Tokyo 2020, all with their own stories and motivations.
For Nova Scotia's Wyatt Sanford, he stresses the need to go "from zero to 100 really fast" after the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out all of his preparation and kept him from testing himself internationally before climbing onto the biggest stage in amateur boxing.
Meanwhile, flyweight Mandy Bujold is happy to even be competing after she was initially ruled ineligible due to a lack of fights. Not that she's planning on being a bystander — the 33-year-old finished fifth at Rio 2016 and aims to improve on that performance.
