Overtime Boxing’s show earlier this weekend lived up to its title as the super-bantamweight clash between Javon Campbell and Lorenzo Parra required an extra round to decide the contest.
The innovative feature was brought in to decide contests that had been scored a draw and the additional session allowed Parra to pick up the win.
Following an eight-round draw, both men went at it in the ninth stanza and two judges opted to score in favour of the rugged Venezuelan which saw him emerge victorious.
The contest saw both men enjoy brief moments of success, but neither could assert their dominance despite being able to grab control momentarily.
After all nine rounds were completed, one judge scored in favour of Campbell, but he was overruled by his fellow officials who saw Parra as the better man.
The loss for Campbell was his first defeat in four years and he will now look to rebuild.
For Parra, he moves up the rankings and will be looking to secure bigger fights moving forward.
