British two-weight world champion teases huge plans for 2025

A Rio 2016 Olympian is looking to make a major impact.

Lawrence Okolie's future in boxing became a bit clearer last week when it was announced that he had signed a promotional deal with Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions

In the article which accompanied the news, it was revealed that Okolie will now fight at heavyweight after winning world titles at cruiserweight and bridgerweight.

Okolie's last fight saw him become a two-weight world champion after he stopped Lukasz Rozanski in the first round in May to claim the WBC bridgerweight title which the former has now vacated.

A move the heavyweight has always been on the cards for Okolie, with a 6' 5" frame, the Olympian made no secret that he struggled to make cruiserweight during his time as a professional.

With making weight no longer an issue, Okolie is looking to stay active and bring some much needed momentum to his career, and recently discussed his immediate fight plans with talkSPORT

”I hope to have a fight before the end of the year because I need to have a fight as I haven’t fought since May,” Okolie said.

”Straight after that I want to face someone in the top five and then we will go straight into a world heavyweight title fight.

”I’m looking at summer next year to be a world champion again, three-weight world champion, why not?”

With Okolie looking to challenge for a world heavyweight title next year, he will have a keen eye on the December 21 rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury live on DAZN PPV.

While the winner will have the WBA, WBC and WBO heavyweight titles around their waist, a trilogy fight could be on the cards depending on the result, and this could lead more of these belts being vacated which will likely be Okolie's best chance of challenging for boxing's biggest prize.
