The IBF champion is set for a September showdown with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

Sergio Mora believes that Caleb Plant is cashing out on his career as he lines up a fight with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

The IBF super middleweight champion is expected to meet Canelo in September in order to decide the title of the undisputed division champion.

Mora poured scorn on the Texan’s path to such a fight, but used it as an example of the disparate nature of boxing titles having an effect on the boxers who can rise to champion status.

“We can be criticising Caleb Plant,” he said on JABS as part of the DAZN Boxing Show.

“He’s not fighting the best. But you can bet your butt that he’s happy with his career. He’s about to cash in on a 10 million dollar paycheque, and he hasn't fought anybody since picking up the title. You can look at a lot of fighters and pick them apart. That’s what happens when you have so many belts and so many champions. “

“Speaking of [Floyd] Mayweather, he’s 50-0 and he made a billion plus, it’s nonsense. Mayweather Jr. was a beast at lightweight, he was knocking people out and reaping the rewards. These young fighters aren't doing that, they want the rewards earlier in their career and it doesn’t work like that.”
