After defeating Jaime Munguia toward a unanimous decision victory Saturday night, Canelo Alvarez had a few statements he wanted to make clear.
Although he wasn't willing to call himself the best Mexican boxer of all time while speaking with DAZN's Jim Gray, the undisputed super middleweight world champion didn't hesitate declaring himself the best current fighter in the sweet science landscape.
He also left the door open to a possible showdown with David Benavidez, who fans and critics have been clamoring for Alvarez to fight.
Upon Gray evoking the possibility, Alvarez first responded by saying "I don't know right now."
However, within seconds, Canelo explained how prospects for the mega bout can instantly change.
"If the money is right, I'll make that call," Alvarez told Gray. "If the money is right, I can fight right now. I don't give a s—t."
The 27-year-old Benavidez (28-0, 24 knockouts) is the current WBC interim super middleweight world champion. He fights Oleksandr Gvozdyk in light heavyweight action on June 15.
Canelo also used his post-fight interview to remind Benavidez and the boxing world that he calls the shots and has earned the right to do so.
"Right now, I can ask whatever I want," he tacked on for good measure. "And I can do whatever I want."
The 33-year-old Alvarez is 61-2-2 through 65 fights, counting 39 knockouts on his legendary ledger.
