Fight week for the WBA world light heavyweight title clash got underway on Tuesday with the grand arrivals.

Multi-weight world champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez returns to one of his favourite venues this weekend.

In a fight that will be broadcast live worldwide on DAZN (except in Mexico), the pound-for-pound king will challenge WBA world light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Both men made their official entrance at the MGM Grand on Tuesday accompanied by the sound of a mariachi band and Canelo’s passionate fans.

"I feel very happy, because they always receive me very nicely. We were counting the number of times we have been here and I am very happy with so much support,” Canelo said.

“This is motivation and a challenge, it's part of my life and I want to continue making history. I love boxing, I love what I do and that makes me want to continue.”

This will be Canelo’s 14th fight in Las Vegas and since 2010, the Mexican has just one loss to his name when in action in the Nevada desert and that was to Floyd Mayweather by majority decision.

"What keeps me alive, I like the adrenaline and being competitive. That's why I will go up there to give my best and give a victory for the history of Mexico," said the Mexican.

Dmitry Bivol meanwhile said he is excited to have the opportunity to face the current pound-for-pound king and he is confident that his skills will be enough to prevail in a fight that he expects to be complicated.

"For me the main thing is that my team believes in me and they know I can beat Canelo. I think why not... all my life I believed in my skills and I have won. Canelo and I are the same material," Bivol claimed.

Bivol has a record of 19-0 with 11 KOs and is looking to add the biggest win of his career this weekend.

"I am very thankful that I will be fighting the best fighter in the world today. Fighting him will show what my skills are worth, how good my skills are. This is a great challenge for me.”
