Canelo Alvarez gives update on hand injury ahead of John Ryder clashDAZN

Undisputed super middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has given an update on his hand injury ahead of his fight with Britain's John Ryder on May 6 live on DAZN and DAZN PPV

Following his victory over Gennadiy Golovkin in their trilogy fight last September, the Mexican revealed that he sustained damage to his left hand and needed time to recover.

Seven months since that night in Las Vegas, Alvarez is back in camp and feels like preparation is going well for his upcoming fight with Ryder.

“I don’t watch a lot of my opponents, but I’ve seen highlights of Ryder,” said Alvarez.

“I had my eighth sparring session yesterday and I did good, I feel good, and I can throw my left hand good. That’s made me feel confident that I am 100 per cent."

May 6 is set to be a historic moment for both Alvarez and Mexican boxing with the 32-year-old fighting in Mexico for the first time since November 2011 when he defended his WBA world light middleweight title against Kermit Cintron.
