Canelo Alvarez: It's important that I have full control of my careerDAZN
The unified super-middleweight champion of the world opens up on his recent career decisions and what the future holds.

Just days before his first defence of the WBA (Super), WBC and The Ring 168lb titles against Turkey's Avni Yildirim, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez opened up on his decision to leave Golden Boy Promotions and branch out on his own as a free agent.

Canelo continues to work with DAZN as well as Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing for the time being, and primarily competes under his own umbrella of Canelo Promotions.

As his profile continues to soar, with general recognition as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world today, the Mexican spoke exclusively to DAZN on 'Off The Cuff' about his business decisions and what the future holds.

"At this moment, the only thing that we want with Canelo Promotions is to focus on my career," he said. "To focus on Canelo’s career, and to do the best we can, which is what we’ve been doing.

"I think that this is a second stage in my career, and it’s very important, so we have to have full control.

"I feel really good. I really am very happy. I always imagined the best for myself, but I never imagined the magnitude of what I could do.

"I know there are no limits for this, and there are still many milestones to reach.

"It’s very important for me to leave behind a legacy in this sport, and that’s why we’re doing this. To keep making history, and so when people talk about boxing they always remember Canelo.

"I don’t think I’m normal, and I wasn’t born into this world to be normal. I was meant to do what I’m doing, and God always has a reason for things. "

You can watch the entire 'Off The Cuff With Canelo Alvarez' documentary on DAZN with a subscription for as little as £1.99, depending on where you live.
