The WBC interim champion has not put all his eggs into the Canelo Alvarez basket.

After defending the WBC interim super middleweight crown against Demetrius Andrade on Saturday night, David Benavidez is ready to do his part and give the fans what they want: a fight against undisputed 168lb champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. However, he knows it's not all up to him.

"Canelo has no one else to fight, if he wants to give me the fight today, tomorrow or whenever he wants, I'll be here. My work is not yet complete. If Canelo doesn't want to, I beat everyone else, I'll keep fighting. It's a deep division," acknowledged Benavidez who has been waiting more than five years for an opportunity.

Benavidez talked about the maturity he is acquiring in the ring and the other options in his future, such as moving up to 175 pounds, where Canelo's last executioner, Dmitry Bivol, is located.

"I feel very comfortable with everything, inside the ring, with the fans, when you enjoy as much as I do you become an extremely dangerous fighter. Welcome to my era," he noted.

After the fight and before the decision was given, Benavidez got out of the ring to salute and pay tribute to Mike Tyson, who was the one who baptized him as The Mexican Monster.

"He gave me a lot of motivation, thanks to him, I am now a different fighter. One who loves to get hit and loves to hit back. I'm not f—g around, today I showed that I'm here to stay for a long time," he concluded.
