The young super featherweight will feature on the Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders card on DAZN on May 8.

Super featherweight fighter Marc Castro says that boxing was once a chore to him, but training with Canelo Alvarez and Ryan Garcia has turned him into a dedicated fan of the sport.

Castro will fight Irving Castillo on May 8 as part of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders undercard, shown live globally on DAZN except in Mexico.

So far, each of the 21-year-old American’s fights have been on Canelo cards and Castro feels lucky to have that association so far.

“I feel blessed, overwhelmed, because my first fight was postponed due to Covid a couple of times, then I had Covid, so it feels like God’s plan to be on the Canelo cards,” he told the DAZN Boxing Show.

“I grew into being a Canelo fan, it blew up after Sergey Kovalev I was training with them, with Ryan Garcia, and Eddy Reynoso for about a month and a half out there.

“I became obsessed with boxing, I didn’t really like it before. Kind of like a chore, but it exploded.”

Castro has just two professional fights to his name, winning both, and is aiming to move up the weight divisions as his career progresses.

Of moving up the weight classes, he said: “Definitely, that’s the thing of becoming a legend. You always go up a weight class.

“I want to go up to 126, 130. I haven’t done that but I have dreams and goals.”
