Could we see a big fight at 168lbs next year?

John Ryder knows what it feels like to step into the ring with Canelo Alvarez after enduring 12 hard rounds with the Mexican icon earlier this year.

Ryder was universally praised for his performance as he limped off the canvas to hear the final bell, but he was widely beaten on the cards as Canelo made a successful homecoming.

With speculation linking Ryder to a bout with Jaime Munguia in January, Ryder is still looking to have a big say at 168lbs.

Canelo and David Benavidez is undoubtedly the biggest fight at super-middleweight and although Ryder may have his hands full with Munguia next year, he’s still had his say on Canelo vs. Benavidez.

“Benavidez is huge at the weight, massive at the weight,” said Ryder when speaking to Boxing Social

“I think he takes something out of himself to make that weight and I don’t think his punch power is there. I think the skills of Canelo can negate the power and I can only see a Canelo win.”
