Jose Benavidez Sr. believes that Canelo Alvarez will defeat Jaime Munguia but thinks his son, David Benavidez, would beat them both if offered the chance.
David was reportedly in the mix for a potential clash with Canelo over the years, but he has never agreed a deal to make a fight.
Alvarez meanwhile will be fighting Munguia on May 4, live on DAZN PPV, as he continues to defend his status as undisputed at super middleweight.
Benavidez Sr. still hopes to make a fight with Canelo and his son, and speaking to BoxingScene.com, he joked just how far he would go.
“Maybe next time we try and make the fight, I'll give him a dozen roses along with an invitation to make the fight,” he said.
He then predicted the outcome of the fight that is slated for the Cinco de Mayo weekend.
He continued: "You hear Canelo say David brings nothing to the table and he goes and fights Munguia.
“David has proven more than Munguia. Canelo knows Munguia brings less danger to the fight and it's an easy fight for him.
“I think Canelo struggles a little bit but he beats Munguia. We'll fight Canelo and Munguia on the same night and beat both of them.”
