John Ryder knows what it takes to get in the ring with both Canelo Alvarez and Jaime Munguia after enduring hard defeats against the world class pair.
The Mexican fighters will clash this weekend with super-middleweight glory on the line and Ryder is expecting Canelo to get the job done.
Ryder travelled to Mexico to face Ryder in 2023, but his trip was a painful one as he was beaten by the local hero despite showing incredible bravery.
Earlier this year, Ryder took on Munguia, but he was stopped in the ninth round before retiring from fighting to assist his coach, Tony Sims.
“I think Canelo wins. I think it’ll be close. Munguia will get off to a good start – might even go three, four rounds up,” said Ryder when speaking to Boxing Scene.
“But I think Canelo will come on strong the second half of the fight and make it his own. He’s too accurate and he’s got the lasting effect in his shots. He’ll grind Munguia down, and I don’t think he’ll stop him, but I think he’ll beat him on points.”
