Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford: Does Canelo have a change of heart on the possible mega fight?

Canelo Alvarez is in the midst of preparing to defend his undisputed super middleweight world championship against Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas on September 30.

Yet, as the bout continues to build up, there has been an uptick of Alvarez having to field questions about possibly clashing with Terence Crawford in the near future.

Throughout the process, Alvarez has essentially maintained that defeating a fighter like Crawford, who would be moving up from 147 pounds to 168 pounds, wouldn't grant him glory.

However, Canelo at least seemed more open to the idea when recently speaking with reporter Manouk Akopyan.

After downplaying the mega bout at first, Alvarez changed his tune by telling Akopyan: "At the end of the day, I don't want to have credit to face Crawford no matter what, but you never know.

"You never know in boxing. I would go up, up and down and fight everybody out there, so it's possible. Why not? It's possible. Why not?"

He added: "If it makes sense, I'm down to do it. I don't care who is there. I'm always able to fight anybody."

Canelo's comments come after Crawford himself downplayed the idea, before expressing a change of heart earlier this month.

“That’s a big step but for a person to go up three weight classes from 147 to 168 and to win and to become undisputed ... wow. What can they say?” he told Joe Rogan.

He added: “What would they say?”

If Alvarez defeats Charlo on September 30, Crawford moving up to 168 pounds and challenging the Mexican sensation would give "Bud" the opportunity to become boxing's only undisputed world champion in three different weight classes, as he's already accomplished the feat at 140 and 147 pounds.
