The long-awaited clash has been put back yet again.

Carl Frampton’s attempt to become the first Irish three-weight champion has been postponed after he suffered a hand injury in training ahead of his WBO super featherweight title clash with belt holder Jamal Herring.

Herring had been expected to arrive in the UK on Friday for a fight scheduled for February 27. The fight would have been the first mainstream boxing event to have been held in Britain since its suspension by the British Boxing Board of Control in response to pressure on the NHS due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However news broke on Tuesday night that Frampton had broken a bone in his hand which would lead to the fight being rescheduled.

Promoter Frank Warren confirmed to The Telegraph that, "unfortunately the contest will have to be rescheduled - we are expecting it to be on March 27 now."

Frampton and Herring have been set to fight twice already, with coronavirus putting paid to one bout and a cut to Herring in his fight with Jonathan Oquendo last summer requiring another delay.
