Carl Froch has given his backing to Conor Benn if the welterweight star manages to share a ring with Chris Eubank Jr.
The domestic rivalry was expected to get settled last year but the bout was pulled at the last minute when it emerged that an adverse finding had been detected in a drug test carried out by Benn.
Eubank Jr moved on with his career and faced Liverpool’s Liam Smith in January when he was emphatically stopped in the fight’s fourth round.
The next move of Eubank Jr is still not confirmed as he continues to be linked to fights with Benn and Smith, but Froch has offered his thoughts on a potential clash between Benn and Eubank Jr.
“If the fight’s been made at 160, that’s the same weight he fought Liam Smith,” said Froch when speaking on his own Froch on Boxing YouTube channel.
“When the fight was first made, I was thinking Chris Eubank Jr would be too much for him – too strong, too heavy, and solid. But after what happened with Liam Smith, I’ve totally changed my opinion on it... No, I [still] think Chris Eubank Jr.”
