Carl Froch gives reason for decline of Deontay Wilder

Deontay Wilder's last fight ended in a loss.

Former WBC world heavyweight Deontay Wilder could be facing a long road back to the top following his fight against Joseph Parker back in December.

Wilder and Parker went head-to-head on the "Day of Reckoning" card in Saudi Arabia in what was Wilder's first outing since October 2022, and the American was below par, losing almost every round to the New Zealander.

After Parker was declared the winner on the judges' scorecards, a potential meeting with Anthony Joshua for Wilder vanished and now it is unknown whether "The Bronze Bomber" will continue his boxing career.

This is a sharp decline for Wilder who was at a time the most feared name in the heavyweight division due to his knockout power and former super middleweight champion Carl Froch has given a reason as to why he thinks the fighter is a shadow of his former self.

“I feel like Wilder is done. He did that ayahuasca ceremony which makes your body release DMT, once you’ve done that, you’re a different person," Froch told talkSPORT

"You have a spiritual awakening, You’re not a killer anymore. He’s at peace.”
