Carl Froch hits out at former opponent - 'He’d put a glass eye to sleep'DAZN

It’s well over a decade since Carl Froch lost out to Andre Ward in the final of the Super Six World Boxing Classic, but it doesn’t appear Froch is on friendly terms with his former rival.

Froch battled past Andre Dirrell and Arthur Abraham to reach the last stage of the competition, but he found Ward too hard a puzzle to solve and had to settle for second place.

Despite the loss to Ward, Froch would push on to see out the rest of his career in impressive fashion thanks to number of memorable displays.

Wins over Lucien Bute and Mikkel Kessler added to Froch’s impressive legacy, and they were followed up by an outstanding series with George Groves.

The Ward fight was never revisited but that hasn’t stopped Froch from having his say on the retired star.

“I wouldn’t invite Andre Ward, he’s not a bad broadcaster but, he used to fight a bit boring, he’d put a glass eye to sleep," said Froch on his own show regarding whether he’d ask Ward to be a guest.

“Performances were dull, let’s be honest. He knew how to win, he was talented etc, he got a win over me, fair play. Talented kid. Would I invite him on the show? Probably not, but he’d probably reject the offer anyway.”
