Carl Froch hits out at former opponent - 'I wanted to smash his head in'DAZN

Carl Froch and George Groves now get along, but that wasn’t always the case as the pair twice did battle for super-middleweight supremacy.

Focusing on his former rival, Froch has spoken candidly regarding the feud and he’s quick to point out that he ‘despised’ Hammersmith fighter during their two-fight series.

At the backend of 2013, Froch climbed off the canvas to controversially stop Groves in the ninth round to the annoyance of the Manchester crowd, who believed referee Howard Foster jumped in too soon.

Six months later, Froch emphatically settled matters as he halted Groves a round earlier at Wembley Stadium before retiring from boxing.

“If I’m honest, I absolutely despised George Groves before the first fight,” said Froch when speaking to Simon Jordan on William Hill’s Up Front podcast

“I wanted to smash his head in so badly. It was ridiculous because you can’t go into the ring thinking to yourself that you want to cave his head in, because you need to be focused.”
