Carl Froch is expecting Anthony Joshua to get the job done against Francis Ngannou this week but has warned the former world champion that a loss would be ‘embarrassing.’
Joshua meets Ngannou this Friday, live on DAZN PPV, and he starts the bout as a decent favourite due to his extra experience in the boxing ring.
Ngannou made his professional bow last October and was unfortunate not to score a win over WBC champion, Tyson Fury.
The past UFC superstar dropped Fury in the fight’s third round before losing narrowly on the scorecards.
Froch, an ex-world champion himself, has had his say on the upcoming contest.
“If AJ gets chinned by Ngannou I'm not going to say he should retire, but I don't know what the point would be to carry on. It'd be embarrassing,” said Froch when speaking to Grosvenor Casinos.
“If he got beaten by Ngannou it would not be good for him mentally, where would he go after that? Ngannou has a puncher's chance and if he sticks it on AJ who knows. I'm still not expecting Ngannou to be good enough in there with the former two-time champion.”
