Carl Froch went in with some of boxing's best fighters.

Carl Froch’s chin helped him in some great battles as he rose from the canvas to register wins over Jermain Taylor and George Groves.

Despite hitting the deck against both men, Froch doesn’t credit either fighter as being the most powerful he shared a ring with as that honour goes to Runcorn’s Robin Reid.

At the end of 2007, Froch took a significant step up in class as he went in with Reid, a former world champion at 168lbs.

Reid had shared the ring with a number of quality operators including Joe Calzaghe and Jeff Lacy, and his power impressed Froch before the fight was stopped after five rounds.

“He hurt me the most with a single shot,” said Froch when speaking to The Ring in 2014 about the hardest puncher he faced.

“I can’t say George Groves because he caught me square on in the first fight, when I left my feet behind me. That was a heavy knockdown made worse by my balance being off. Also, after his fast start dwindled, I came on strong, so I can’t say Groves.

“I remember Reid hitting me and saying, ‘F—ing hell, that hurt.’ Jermain Taylor had me down, but that was more of a sharp shot. Robin Reid could really bang.”
