Carl Froch has revealed the only fighter to drop him in sparring during his long illustrious career that saw him become world champion.
Renowned for his incredible toughness, Froch was only dropped twice in his entire career, and he climbed off the canvas both times to secure victories over Jermain Taylor and George Groves.
A hard fighter inside the ring, Froch also possessed a similar approach when it came to training, and he enjoyed many rounds sparring with Tony Bellew.
The Liverpool fighter who emulated Froch by becoming world champion picked up plenty of experience from ‘The Cobra’ and Froch has now revealed that he was once dropped by Bellew.
“He didn’t bully me or anything or try and knock me out – well he did try and knock me out, and he nearly did once,” said Froch on his YouTube channel when reflecting on his spars with Bellew.
“The only person to put me down in sparring was Tony Bellew. I backed him into a corner, threw a bit of a lazy right hand, he counterpunched me and I walked straight onto it.”
