Carlos Takam is already planning ahead following fight with Joe Joyce.

Carlos Takam is targeting a showdown with Anthony Joshua after he has fought Joe Joyce later this month. The French veteran has arrived in Britain for a battle with Joyce that will take place on July 24th.

Takam faced Joshua in October 2017 at short notice and produced a spirited effort before he was stopped in the tenth round. If the former world title challenger can get past Joyce, then Joshua will become his immediate priority.

With Joshua set to defend his world titles against Oleksandr Usyk later this year, Takam will be a keen observer if he manages to cause an upset and defeat the 2016 Olympic silver medallist.

“The story between Joshua and me is not finished,” said Takam when speaking at a digital press conference ahead of his imminent bout with Joyce. “There is unfinished business with Joshua. That fight still hurts me.

“I took that fight at ten days’ notice. The referee stopped the fight and I don’t know why. Nobody ever told me. I was also meant to fight Usyk twice, but it never happened and he didn’t want me.”
