Deontay Wilder will beat Andy Ruiz if the former heavyweight champions collide at some point in 2023.

That’s the verdict of Chris Arreola, a previous world title challenger, who endured a tough 12 rounds with Ruiz when the pair met in 2021 before losing on points as well as losing to Wilder six years ago.

Wilder, who returned to the ring this past weekend with a sensational first round knockout of Robert Helenius, has made it clear he wants to regain the championship he lost to Tyson Fury.

After his stoppage of Helenius, Wilder referred to a fight with Oleksandr Usyk, but his name has also been linked to Ruiz. Arreola has had his say on that fight.

“Wilder wins,” said Chris Arreola when speaking to Fighthype regarding a potential fight between Wilder and Ruiz.

“The reason beings because I fought Andy, no disrespect to him. He won the fight. He didn’t beat me. He won the fight, but he didn’t beat me.

“I was hitting him with jabs and right hands. If Wilder is hitting him like I was with right hands, he’s going to put him out.

“Andy can’t stay on the outside with Wilder. Wilder is proficient from the outside. It’s a fight where Andy has to go on the outside and make the fight happen.

“I wish him all the best of luck, and I hope that fight happens because I want to watch it.”
