Chris Billam-Smith is open to fighting IBF champion Jai Opetaia after his win over Isaac Chamberlain.
The European and Commonwealth cruiserweight defeated Chamberlain by unanimous decision in Bournemouth on Saturday. Opetaia’s promoter Dean Lonergan was ringside for the fight, suggesting he hopes to make a matchup between Saturday night’s winner and his own fighter.
"One hundred percent, especially with the opportunities we've got here," said promoter Ben Shalom of a potential title fight.
Billam-Smith agreed, telling Sky Sports: "He [Opetaia] is the number one in the world. It's mental the opportunities that now lie ahead. I'm so excited for them.
"The next fight is always the biggest in this sport.
"Every fight's a must-win, and that's how I approach it. Every next fight is the biggest. That tonight was the pinnacle of my career so far. But there's going to be even better nights ahead. That just blew my expectations. It blew the roof off. It was so loud in there. Honestly, it makes me emotional thinking about it. It was so much more than I expected."
