It looks like the British grudge match is one step closer to being made official.

It looks like the re-arranged fight between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn is getting closer to being made if promoter Eddie Hearn is to be believed.

Eubank and Benn were originally set to write another chapter in one of British boxing's most enthralling rivalries last year, but an adverse finding in a Benn drugs test resulted in the fight cancelled with no new date in sight.

However, this bump in the road has not stopped the two fighters from verbal sparring on social media and now they could be set to settle their differences inside the ring in early 2024.

When speaking to iFL TV  ahead of Joe Cordina vs. Edward Vazquez, Hearn confirmed that the two parties are in the final stages of negotiations and teased that an announcement could be imminent.

"There’s a very good chance," Hearn responded when asked whether a Eubank Jr. vs. Benn could be made official within the next week.

"I’ve told everybody January, where we’re at now is final negotiations, that’s the only we can explain it really.

"We don’t have signed contracts, but we are in final negotiations to make that fight, and I believe we’re going to make it."
